More celebrities...

While perusing the video game selection at a Blockbuster in West Hollywood this afternoon, John spotted our latest addition to the celebrity list... We weren't sure at first, so I tried to get a better look at the cell-phone gabbing celebrity, but when she got behind us in line, we knew it was her....

Star of "Roseanne" and most recently seen last season on the Award-winning "24" .....

Sara Gilbert!

Updates!

Things have been going on pretty much as usual around Verive's Hollywood. Things are going well, John is getting super excited about his upcoming shoot - and I am sooooo happy for him - and I'm working away constantly, counting the minutes until we drive off into the sunset and towards that beautiful, neon oasis in the desert. It's about time I had a mini-vacation, and I am so excited about the 36 or so hours that we will be in Las Vegas, NV.....

I'm can't wait to kick some ass at the Blackjack tables!

In other news, John, Beau, Mary and I saw "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" on Friday, and I have to say - it was absolutely brilliant! I have been a HUGE Jim Carrey fan since he first graced the screen in "Ace Ventura - Pet Detective" and while there is nothing that can replace the ridiculous hilarity of Carrey's earlier works (Ace Ventura 2, Liar Liar, and even most recently Bruce Almighty) I have come to respect Jim Carrey as a wonderful actor, and not just a comedian with what appears to be a face made of rubber. In addition, Kate Winslet is fabulous (and gorgeous!) and the story and direction is INCREDIBLE.

Other than that, things are pretty average around here. I have a few more days of work before we head off to Las Vegas and our amazingly cheap rooms at Imperial Palace ($35/night on the strip! WTF?!?) so I am pretty much zoned out for the week I think.....

First Celeb Sighting in Weeks!

Today as I was working away in the cafe, a familiar face came up with three copies of the same book, America 24/7. I rang her up, and finally realized that I was helping none other than Shannon Elizabeth!

She was very nice, and I was very happy to have finally had another celebrity sighting after so long!

Short Day Off....

Today was my day off from work, and I only say that it was short because I worked last night until 1am, and I have to be back on Sunday at 6am....

Icky!

This, combined with the fact that I am closing four out of five days this week makes me none too happy at Borders right now. But I am off from work in all the right places, so I guess that's got to count for something....

Today John and I took the Metro downtown and feasted on some yummy yummy Mexican food! They didn't offer nachos on their menu, but I suppose I'll survive..... Downtown itself was pretty cool - the weather was absolutely perfect, and it reminded me a lot of San Francisco, but with a lot of little shops owned and frequented almost exclusively by Latinos, which reminded me a lot of an urban version of the open-air market John and I visited on our Honeymoon while in Ensenada...

In other news, kind of silly to mention but monumental nonetheless, John and I today recognized the five year milestone of when we first started dating. It's strange to think it's only been five years, and at the same time, it seems nearly impossible that we have been together so long! But at any rate, it has truly been the best five years of my entire life, and I look forward to the next at least 50 years that we can share together!

After downtown, we used our Metro Day Passes to check out the Universal CityWalk, which was hideous. I thought the Irvine Spectrum was the worst, but our very own CityWalk was Absolute HELL. It was completely overrun with little high school Goth kids, and billions of strollers - most of which were empty, serving only to block up traffic worse than could be imaginable, and make us angry at every stroller-driver who appeared to be completely blind. I feel very sorry for the children of America being raised by blind, rude idiots...

Okay, hang on while I get off my soapbox....

Finally, I would like to wish both John Peterman (who turned 25 years old today!) and Mary Holscher (who will be 22 on Tuesday) a gloriously HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Much love to both of you, and I wish you many years of happiness!

Alright, time to go to bed... I've got to be up in five hours....

Up and Running Once Again!

An SBC technician came this morning and fixed our DSL/phone connection! So we are back in business!!!

Things are going well, it's been a while since I posted...

About 10 days ago, I bought myself a new blue mini iPod! It is the coolest thing ever! I know officially consider myself part of the Apple family! At some point I'll post a pic of me and my new Pod, but for right now you'll just have to check out the Apple website (linked above) to see what all the fuss is about!

We had a nice little Oscar party on Sunday for the perfect sweep of Lord of the Rings:Return of the King. I really couldn't be happier that they won every single thing they were nominated for, and I look forward to Peter Jackson's future works! I was a little bummed that Johnny Depp didn't win (although I knew he didn't have much of a chance.... The fluke SAG award that he won a few weeks ago gave me some hope that my favorite pirate would take home the Oscar... But I'm sure that Sean Penn was equally or more deserving, and confirms that I must go see Mystic River....)

Yesterday I had a nice day off with John, we wandered up to Hollywood Boulevard to check out the walk of fame and all the sleazy shops up and down the street. It was a little cold and threatening of rain, but we braved the elements to trek up and down the legendary street...

Then we come to today - what appears to be the beginning of summer... The weather is absolutely perfect - sunny and clear, not cold AT ALL and not too hot (which it will inevitably be very soon...) And in a mere three hours, I must be confined inside at work.

But tonight, the critically acclaimed singer Rufus Wainwright will be performing at Borders in Hollywood. I personally have never heard his music, but there promises to be a huge crowd (hopefully patiently) awaiting his performance. So that will make for an interesting and hectic night!

For now, John and I are off to check out the brand-spankin' new Target that just opened TODAY not three blocks from our apartment! It will be nice to finally have a decent Target in West Hollywood, and once the rest of the shopping center is opened, there will be a Best Buy and a Beverages and More! Quite the shopping experience if you ask me!
