It's Been a While...

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, but it's probably pretty likely that there are only a couple of people who still read this blog anyway...

Things have been crazy at work lately. Our new General Manager is trying to change everything that has been in place for nearly a year, and is changing all of the rules around.

The promotions didn't turn out quite the way that we had all hoped either. Apparently after sitting around and not picking a sales manager for nearly a month, there was suddenly a rush on getting someone in to do it, so our GM chose a manager from her old store to bring over. Crappy. Then I get a call from my old boss (now the General Manager at the West Hollywood store) and he tells me they are restructuring the store and they will not be filling the position. Again, crappy.

The good news is that I have an interview for the Human Resources/Operations Manager at the Glendale store at one o'clock this afternoon. I am nervous.

Wish me luck, I'll let you all know how it goes.

”Dude, thanks so much…”

This was a very full weekend for John and I. Friday night we met up with some people and went to see "I Heart Huckabees" at the Arclight. I really enjoyed it. It was very bizarre, but well worth it!

After the movie we went over to the Cat and Fiddle for some drinks and just hung out for a couple of hours. It was nice to get out and about after a very long week of work. We got home not too late, as I had to work on Saturday morning at 7am....

Work on Saturday was busy, but not too stressful. The highlight of the day was the biggest celebrity sighting I've ever had. Keanu Reeves was in the store, causing quite an uproar with the employees! I was standing at the info desk helping another customer when a coworker pointed out that Keanu was in the store - he was signing autographs for another customer. As that customer walked away, Keanu put his motorcycle helmet on, our assumption was that he was trying to be inconspicuous. Of course, if you see some guy walking around a bookstore wearing a motorcycle helmet, you tend to notice him even more…. So I was trying very hard to be professional and not go ballistic about his presence, when he came up to the info desk and asked me for help to find the Hardy Boys series. Being shocked that he had come to me for help, I think I may have been overly friendly, but I led him over to the books and showed him what he was looking for. He thanked me, and I told him to let me know if he had any other questions. As I started to walk away, he asked me where Encyclopedia Brown would be. So I looked it up and showed him, and he thanked me again. I was then the envy of nearly all of the employees as they trying to sneakily follow him around the store.

Saturday night we went out to “Bar Sinister” just a few blocks from our house. We got all “gothed-up” as Saturday night is goth night at this particular bar. We drank and danced and had a great time. A little too good of a time we realized when we got home, and especially when we woke up the next morning, feeling weak and just a little off. We spent a good part of Sunday playing Burnout 3, and we took a little Sunday drive around LA.

All in all a fantastic weekend, and now we begin finalizing our plans for our two year anniversary on Wednesday…
