The Big Part is DONE!

I have a word of advice for anyone who has to move. Ever.

Hire movers. It will be the best money you have ever spent!

The movers showed up around 8:30 on Saturday morning, and by 12:30pm everything we own was in our new apartment. We spent the rest of the weekend arranging and shopping for organizational items at Ikea.

More unpacking all week long. Hopefully we'll have cable TV up and running in time for the Super Bowl on Sunday!

The Last Lap...

We have the keys, we are mostly packed, and the movers will be here between 8-10am on Saturday....

Two more days!

Tonight...

We sign the lease for our new apartment tonight after work!!!

Then the packing continues.....

A New Home...

We have a new apartment!

The big move-in day looks to be January 27th, and we'll be completely out of our old apartment by the deadline of 2/2/07.

We're on the third floor with a nice sized patio, and there is a POOL! (have i mentioned that yet? I am excited about it!)

So the stars have aligned in our favor, and we'll post pictures as soon as we've got them!

Better Prospects!

Last night, John and I ran over to check out an apartment a few blocks away from us, and we may have a winner!

It's a cute 1 bedroom that was built in 1961. It's a cool little building about four blocks east of us (super close to the Cat and Fiddle, if you know where that is!)... it's a little small and doesn't have a dishwasher, but it is ours if we want it for a good price!

We have one more place to check out tomorrow morning and then we'll have to make the decision!

This weekend is packing weekend!!!

Apartment Leads.....

John and I spent all day Saturday driving around Hollywood and West Hollywood looking for new apartments and called about 35 different places. We got ONE call back...

So today at 5pm I have an appointment to check out our first apartment lead!!

It is about four blocks west of our current apartment, and from my drive-by this morning it looks pretty promising! It is still expensive (evidently Hollywood rentals have SKY-ROCKETED in the past three years!) but reasonable enough and all new - plus there is a pool and a workout room!

Stressful New Year...

So, the New Year has started off a little bumpy....

On Wednesday night on my way home from work, the clutch in my car died. After nearly 60,000 miles, it had enough and gave up. It managed to get me home, and John and I took it into the shop this morning. I was a wreck all morning until I finally got to talk to the guy working on the car, and got the grand total for the costs (just under $600) and it will be fixed by tonight. So at least it isn't something unmanageable. Thank goodness for Christmas bonuses!

Wednesday night I also had to turn in our 30 day notice of terminating our tenancy, so as of February 2nd we officially have to be out. We have a couple of leads to look at this weekend, plus we are going to drive around town and check places out, so hopefully by the end of this weekend we will have some good news on that front.

New Years pictures will be up soon, but the power supply for the Power Book was broken at our New Years Eve party, so have patience and they'll be up soon!

So, altogether nothing horrible, just a stressful few days to follow up a nice holiday season.

I cannot believe it is 2007!

We had a nice party on Sunday to usher in the new year, and today
finished off our mini holiday vacation... Back to work tomorrow...
