Merry Christmas!!!

Wednesday John and I got new cell phones with new numbers (if you want
the number let me know!!)

I splurged and got a Sidekick and John got a Dash! Texting, instant
messaging and internet in the palm of our hands. I am writing this post
from my Sidekick right now!

We're now both off work through Monday for the holiday, then next week
we get seriously looking for a new apartment....

Merry Christmas!!!

More holiday cheer!

Okay, well, not really.

On Friday I came home to find a notice on our door of the rent raise we have been expecting for some time. We have been having nothing but trouble from the new property manager that took over sometime in March, and the place has become more and more of a slum in the past nine months, so naturally this increase in rent (a 22% increase, I should add) made me angry, sad and generally annoyed at the fact that we now have to move.

This apartment is the only home we have ever known in Los Angeles, and it really does feel like home. So it crushes me to know that simply because those bastards who are running our building got greedy, we have to leave that home behind and start again somewhere else.

But after briefly looking through some rental listings online, I am finding that not only should we be able to find a comparable apartment for much LESS than they are requesting we pay (starting February 1st) but we should be able to get into a building with a POOL and central air and possibly even TWO parking spaces! So I am getting over my anger about moving and am only angry at those greedy jerks. There are no less than seven empty apartments in our building now (maybe more) and we will be adding to that sometime early in the new year.

So that was a bit of a damper on my holiday cheer... But I am trying to bounce back, and I think perhaps some baking of Christmas treats this weekend will get me back in the spirit of the season!

Happy December!

The Tree!

I can't believe it is December!

I'm getting in the holiday spirit a bit, but the year is vanishing before my eyes!
