BEST...CONCERT...EVER....

Saturday night, we went down to the Wiltern for the Fiona Apple show. We arrived at the theater early and found our seats in the far back corner of the theater and waited for the show to start.

The opening act, David Garza, was crap. I could not wait for him to get off the stage. When Fiona finally took the stage, the crowd went crazy! She seemed a little nervous at first, but quickly got into the moment and belted out all of my favorite songs. She was really into it, and her band ROCKED! Adoring fans yelled their love to her after each song and threw gifts on the stage. It was such a thrilling vibe!

The show was so unbelievably amazing. I got chills and goosebumps, and tears welled up in my eyes when she would play certain songs. The set list was incredible, she played 19 of her 32 songs...

Get Him Back
Better Version of Me
Shadowboxer
To Your Love
I Know
Sleep to Dream
Limp
Paper Bag
Tymps
Oh Well
On The Bound
Red, Red, Red
Not About Love
O'Sailor
Get Gone
Fast As You Can

Encores:
Extraordinary Machine
Criminal
Parting Gift

This was one of the best concerts I have ever seen.

Alanis Morissette is gonna have a tough time following this on Thursday!

Not Much to Say...

It's been too long since I have blogged, so I know it's about that time.

Thanksgiving is in three days. Where the hell did this year go? I am excited about the actual day - we are once again preparing a feast which we will share with my mother-in-law (I swear that's a good thing!) The food promises to be as exquisite as last year, with John's extremely capable culinary skills and my pie baking skills to make the best darn Thanksgiving dinner ever!!!

Then there's Friday - Black Friday. The day that mindless drones of consumers fill malls searching for the best deals on Christmas gifts. Fortunately since I don't work in a mall, the day probably won't be as horrible as everyone is assuming it will be, but we are across the street from the Beverly Center, which will most likely be thronged with shoppers. So, wish me luck dealing with all the prissy shoppers and here's hoping we have as successful a Black Friday as possible.

Then on Saturday we're heading down to the Wiltern in the beautiful Los Angeles financial district, or Koreatown (K-Town as us Angelinos lovingly call it) for the next in our 2005 concert series. We are going to see Fiona Apple on the first leg of her tour! As far as we can tell the concert is just her, which is fantastic considering the second leg of the tour also features Coldplay (or shall I call them mediocre Radiohead?) I can't wait, as I absolutely love her new album and look forward to hearing her old songs as well as these new gems!

The following few days should be pretty mellow, and then on Thursday we are heading over to the Avalon (a small concert venue in Hollywood) to see Alanis Morissette once again! I am so excited about this, as the venue is significantly smaller than when we previously saw her at the Greek. She's playing in support of her new greatest hits collection, so it should be a good mix of old and new... It should be an awesome show.

So have a wonderful Thanksgiving all!

The Culinary Realignment is a Success!

I found out on Monday that for the first time in at least three years, I actually weigh what my driver's license says I do.

This is particularly exciting as my drivers license was lying about my weight by upwards of FIFTY pounds!
